“Then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where He scattered you. Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you and bring you back.”
–Deuteronomy 30:3-4
Hi.
My name is Bethany. And if you want to learn about me, there’s an About page and a Home page with all that stuff.
But, this is a blog post. Actually, it’s the Intro to this whole thing.
So let’s dive in.
There are some basic assumptions I’m making that I want you to be aware of.
Assumption 1) That there was a point in your life that you believed there was a God, and that Jesus was real.
Assumption 2) That you walked away from that belief in God and Jesus. Whether you decided that they aren’t real, or that “Christianity isn’t for me.”
Assumption 3) That there’s something in your life that isn’t meeting your expectations, which makes you wonder if you shouldn’t have walked away.
If those assumptions don’t add up to, you, that’s ok. Feel free to keep reading, but know that I’m writing to a specific group of people. Not because I don’t care about everyone else, but because my story is designed to reach certain people.
If those assumptions DO sound like you: Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. Let me give your our itenerary…
- Lost
- Brought Back
- Walking Forward
The blog will be split into those three categories. And, while the titles may seem pretty vague, the actual posts won’t be.
The purpose of this blog is to re-communicate the Gospel.
When I walked away from God it was because I didn’t really understand what the Gospel meant for my life.
Let me clarify. I’m not here to judge you.
God’s forgiven me of so, so, so much. I have no right to judge you.
I’m not here to shame you.
Shame is evil. It’s twisting, and it corupts. I have zero desire to cause anyone to experience shame. You are not defined by your actions. You have a beautiful identity that I hope to call up, and out, of you.
If you feel hate, shame, judgement…please, pause and take a breath. Reading this blog might result in some strong emotions. That’s where I’m going to ask you to take a risk…
Trust me.
If you can trust that I’m not here to break you, but to help you grow; and if you can continue reading when it feels difficult, then I really think you can experience a type of transformation and freedom you’ve never imagined.
If it seems crazy for a stranger on the internet to ask you to trust her, just think about all of the podcasts and influencers you take advice from everyday.
Looking forward to this lil adventure.
